Nassau, Bahamas

After four hours of sitting down by the pool covered up with towels as blankets, the sun has finally come out to play; too bad it's 4:30 and time to get ready for dinner. Weather aside, the island isn't quite what I expected. Everyone raves about the Bahamas and vacation spots down here. And while I'm not staying at Atlantis (Wyndham represent!), I haven't seen too much that impressed with. Don't get me wrong, the people are welcoming and friendly and eager to share their favorite local food spot. But once outside the resort walls, run-down houses pepper the town. It seems that residents live either in condemnable houses, or impressive mansions. A few middle-class homes are around but I just haven't seen what I was expecting of a huge tourist spot like the Bahamas.

Wrong assumptions aside, I've had a good time here. Every time I pass someone in the hotel my age I can tell we're thinking the same thing Are you on SAS? But we did get to meet a TON of kids last night at Senor Frogs. We had a good time to say the least. And, best of all, the MV Explorer (our ship) was docked right outside. Six years I've been waiting to see it and do this journey and it's finally here. Brittney and I had our celebratory moment and reminisced over 9th grade plans that someday we'd be here. Now that we're boarding tomorrow, I can't believe it. There aren't enough words to describe how utterly excited I am. If only my last name didn't start with a "W" and I wouldn't be in the last group to board tomorrow morning....

T-18 hours until the journey of a lifetime begins!
