I'm feeling better...knock on wood. I've been able to get up and move around the boat some and it's amazing. The motion is much less severe in the aft/back of the boat so I've been trying to hang out here as much as I can. I heard rumors about a woman breaking her leg and the helicopter had to land. We were all in meetings but that would explain the incredible noise and shaking we felt.
The weather out here is amazing. Even with the strong winds at the front of the boat and here in back too, it's warm and pleasant. Classes start tomorrow (800 for me...oh boy) so hopefully we'll be able to start getting into the swing of things. My strategy is to just go to class in the morning and then snag a deck chair and lay out the rest of the day and get some reading and journaling done.
Kinda of off topic, but for more description of my room other than just "it's a joke," I'll try to put as much of it as I can in words. First of all, we have bunk beds. I'm sleeping on top and my bed can actually fold up and stow away. We each have three small drawers, a couple shelves in the bathroom (maximum height of 6 inches maybe?), and half of a wardrobe. No place for anything else. We have a mini fridge and a TV with a remote that doesn't work. Oh, and two luggage fold-out racks like in a hotel. The only problem with these is, if we have them open, we can't open the door properly. Our bathroom is minimal--it has the basics with hardly any storage as said, and the tiniest shower ever that lets water get all over the bathroom. All we can do is laugh about it. The only serious problem is that we can feel EVERYTHING up there. Any tiny wave or rocking makes it hard to stand or keep a stable stomach. I'd rather have the back engine noise than the front waves any day. Ali and I are doing our best to get settled in and make it home for the next few months.
I would try to explain the food but I only made it to dinner tonight and had six rolls and a pear-- nice balanced meal I'd say. It looked fairly good but I wasn't willing to chance my queasy stomach on something else quite yet.
I think that's all for now. We've just been bumming around and meeting people after taking our writing assessment today--totally unnecessary if you ask me. Oh, and Happy Birthday to MB! Not really the 21st birthday you were hoping for but I'm sure being on the MV Explorer more than makes up for it!
